In the Tarot deck, different cards have different meanings; for instance, Queens are associated with authority, influence and power. The same is the case with Tarot Aces, and as long as these cards are mentally arranged appropriately within the deck’s hierarchy, understanding the meaning and significance of Tarot Ace cards will not be such a problem.

The Ace is the beginning of every suit in a Tarot deck. Thus, every suit is represented in its purest form by the Ace card. Something special is added to a Tarot reading with the presence of an Ace. Aces seem to have their own special significance and this is what makes them stand out from the rest of the cards in a Tarot deck.

Aces in a Tarot deck have similar images on them. The image present on these Aces depicts a hand escaping a cloud, surrounded by emanating energy and grasping the token of its suit. The meaning of this image is that people are being handed out some gift from a source that is hidden in the clouds. The token of the suit of the Ace symbolizes the nature of this gift.

There are four types of Tarot Aces: the Ace of Wands, Ace of Cups, Ace of Swords and the Ace of Pentacles, and each has its own meaning and significance.

Ace of Wands

Wands are a masculine object; therefore, they are a symbol of strength and intense force. The image on an Ace of Wands card shows leaves growing from a wand signifying the beginning of new life. The wand also symbolizes miracles and wonders if considered in the sense of a magic wand. Confidence, courage, creativity and enthusiasm are among the gift of the Ace of Wands.

Ace of Cups

Cups are feminine objects: nourishing liquids can ideally be held in their open design. The image on an Ace of Cups card shows water pouring from the cup, representing that the supply of refreshment flowing into the world will not end. Emotion, intimacy, intuition and love are among the gift of the Ace of Cups.

Ace of Swords

Swords are weapons, making them capable of cutting through confusing or troublesome obstacles. The image on an Ace of Swords card signifies both clean and cruel force. Fortitude, justice, mental clarity and truth are among the gift of the Ace of Swords.

Ace of Pentacles

The mystery of the natural and everyday world is signified by Pentacles. The image on an Ace of Pentacles card shows a pentacle stamped on a coin, signifying the token of material exchange. An Ace of Pentacles is therefore a representation of money and raw materials. Practicality, prosperity and security are among the gift of the Ace of Pentacles.

Tarot Ace cards happen to be among the most significant cards in a Tarot deck. The four Tarot Aces briefly described here have meaning and significance that go far beyond the scope of this article.
